About Fibonartsy

Throughout my creative life, I've seen beauty in the mathematical patterns of music, color, nature, and architecture. For me, the Golden Ratio and Fibonacci sequence are magical, if not holy. Fractals, in general, and the Mandelbrot Set in particular, can create amazing, eye-pleasing patterns. Attractive color combinations and harmonic musical chords are based on specific mathematical intervals that humans find inherently beautiful. All of this is miraculous to me and is the motivation for my taking my creative side to the next level with my fused glass art and other craft work. The name, "Fibonartsy," invented by my sister, combines my two favorite things: math and art.

About Me

An avid knitter and beader, I frequently considered a craft-based business while I was, in turn, a systems engineer, a marketing professor, a healthcare data analyst, and marketing research analyst. To survive a particularly soul-sucking job, I took several craft courses to find a new outlet for my creativity. Metal jewelry making was NOT it. Fused glass was.

After taking a series of private classes from Flo Ulrich, an amazing paint and glass artist in Charleston, SC, I was hooked. I bought a small, used kiln, basic tools and equipment, and some glass, and set up shop in my soggy, always-flooded garage. Since then, I've upgraded my equipment moved into a most excellent studio in Durham, NC. This is my main gig now, and my goal is to make a go of my fused glass art.

What I Do

In addition to creating beautiful art pieces for your shelf or wall, I craft usable fused glass art for your home - platters, trays plates, bowls, coasters, knobs, and pulls. Art was meant to be used and enjoyed, and it is my intent that you do both.
